“I wanted to burn that wedding dress by the end”: Georgina Campbell on starring in Suspicion
Suspicion is the latest crime thriller series to land on from Apple TV+. Based on the Israeli show False Flag, the eight-episode programme follows the fallout after a young man is kidnapped from a New York hotel. The titular “suspicion” for the crime lands on a group of Londoners who happened to be staying in the hotel that night before flying home the next day. The victim’s affluent mother Katherine, played by Hollywood A-lister Uma Thurman, then takes a trip to the UK’s capital with an FBI agent to get to the bottom of what happened. And so, gradually, the convoluted plot unravels and the seemingly unconnected narratives of those purported to be involved begin to coalesce. The slick thriller brings together a fantastic ensemble transatlantic cast, and despite rather disappointingly brief glimpses of Thurman, Suspicion makes for an absorbing, nail-biting cat-and-mouse watch.
British actress Georgina Campbell, of Broadchurch and Black Mirror fame, plays Natalie, one of those suspected of being involved. The Upcoming had the chance to chat with the actress about her role in the series, her admiration for Thurman, the joy of shooting in London locations, the challenges of wearing a wedding dress for weeks on end and audiences’ seemingly insatiable appetite for thriller series.
