Netflix’s most popular series for 2022
Netflix knows how to make fascinating movies and series – one only needs to look at House of Cards, 13 Reasons Why and Black Mirror for an idea of the quality on offer. And this year, despite all the world turmoil in recent years, is no exception.
Some shows that premiered in February and March have already topped all sorts of charts. They are discussed and criticised with good reason or not – in fact it’s fairly difficult to predict what’s going to land these days, particularly as audiences have become more and more discerning about their online entertainment. In many cases, waiting to see whether a new Netflix entry is a hit with viewers is a longshot rivalled only by visiting an online casino for real cash or discovering the types of bonuses commonly available on Indian website.
Here’s a list of the newest, most exciting and most popular series from Netflix today. This list is for everyone!

This is a mystical thriller about the strange death in 1994 of a girl who was investigating a mysterious cult. Melody was a graduate student; in preparation for her thesis, she videotaped interviews with people who knew (or had a relationship) with a cult. But the girl could not complete her investigation: there was a fire in the high-rise building where she lived. The bodies of 13 people were not found. Melody was on that tragic list.
And now, many years later, the tainted footage that Melody shot falls into the hands of a film restorer. A rich investor asks him to restore the film, but it must be done in private – isolated in the countryside, without Internet, telephone or any other communication with the outside world. Strange conditions, right? But Dan (the restorer) agrees, unaware of the potential consequences of this decision.
The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window
This one’s a very ambiguous mini-series: on the one hand, it overtook many of the other new shows on Netflix during on its release, but on the other, it has low ratings and many negative reviews. The Woman in the House opposite the Girl in the Window is a vivid parody of supernatural, psychological thrillers, with lots of black humour and deliberate exaggerations that mock stereotypes.
The main character accidentally witnesses a brutal murder (at least, it seems so), but no one believes her. And for a good reason: Anna is experiencing a difficult period in her life, her eight-year-old daughter having died, her marriage having fallen apart, and ombrophobia (a fear of rain) making things even more challenging. The result is days of drinking and pills mixed with wine – but was there a murder? And if so, who was behind it?
Jigeum Uri Hakgyoneun
The most talked-about series of the year that, for some reason, many have compared to sensational Korean series Squid Game, We’re All Dead is set in South Korea, the action taking place in a school (and, consequently, the plot revolves around teenagers, touching on themes of relationships and bullying) – but most importantly it’s about zombies.
It begins with a high school girl being bitten by a lab hamster. The girl is taken to hospital, and the teacher is taken to the police. Meanwhile, a strange infection is spreading through the school at the speed of light. Who will survive, and who will transform?
Vikings: Valhalla
A historical drama for those who love stories about the early Middle Ages, here, viewers will learn about the Vikings’ attempts to conquer England and Leif Eriksson’s journey to America, in a dramatic tale of love, hostility and revenge alongside the spread of Christianity among the Vikings. Add the Scandinavian landscapes (set in 11th-century Sweden, Denmark and Norway), engaging personal stories and complex fates, and Netflix presents a series that’s hard to break away from.
Inventing Anna
This is the true story of 23-year-old Russian con artist Anna Delvey, who defrauded plenty of wealthy Americans (including actors and top managers of major American companies).
The series about Delvey’s adventures is based on a New York Magazine investigation. The prototype for the main character was Anna Sorokina, born in 1991 in Domodedovo near Moscow; in 2007, her parents and younger brother moved to Germany. There, her father worked as a truck driver and also repaired small appliances.
After graduating from college in 2013, the real Anna Sorokina moved to the United States, took the pseudonym Delvey and made a bunch of acquaintances in business and social circles, presenting herself as the heiress to a billion-dollar fortune. The girl lived for free in fashionable hotels and borrowed huge sums from wealthy acquaintances. All this went on for several years until Sorokina-Delvy was arrested on suspicion of fraud.
Stranger Things: Season 4
Joyce Byers is well aware that Eleven needs a new life and the opportunity to continue it. Sheriff Hopper’s death comes as a surprise to her, and nothing can put the girl’s emotional state in order. She’s been through enough in recent years, and she dreams of an everyday, peaceful life. And if she can’t have that right now, Joyce is sure to help. The single mum takes Eleven and her sons into a new and happy life, where they will be comfortable. None of the characters even suspects that Jim Hopper is alive and at a secret Soviet base, and that he’ll will have to return and tell all one day.
Gossip Girl: Season 2
All is not quite right with Constance Billard again. The students are well aware that their secrets, hidden for years, will soon come out. Some are worried about their reputations, others about their welfare, and others about losing everything they have. This school has always been a place of concentrated secrets ruining other people’s lives. Zoe, Otto, and Julien have had a good deal over time, but it remains to be seen who is next in line and whose life will be ruined by “Gossip Girl”.
The series about young people in 2022 is very diverse and entertaining and worth the attention of those who follow modern trends and enjoy teenage subculture.
Arcane
In the series ratings in November 2021, the cartoon Arcane literally burst into action and immediately took the second spot. First of all, it gained popularity thanks to fans of the video game League of Legends (LoL) – after all, the series was timed to release its tenth anniversary. The events of the cartoon take place in the world of Runterra in the two cities of Piltover and Zauna. The towns compete with each other, the rivalry turning into a confrontation after the advent of Hextec technology, which allows people to turn into monsters. People begin to torment each other.
Money Heist
Crime drama Money Heist rightfully got to the third spot on the list top-rated series. Spanish director Alex Pina created it, attracting the interest of Netflix and becoming known worldwide. A total of five seasons have been released with a plot centred around a group of adventurers whose members use the names of cities as code names. A professor leads them in a main task of robbery. At first, the target of the criminals is the Royal Mint and then comes the Bank of Spain.
