Roma Bar Show returns for a second edition in Rome next week
The second edition of the Roma Bar Show is coming to the Palazzo dei Congressi in Rome, on Monday 30th and Tuesday 31st May 2022, opening at noon each day and closing at 9pm. It’s a project created by Andrea Fofi, Giuseppe Gallo, Fabio Bacchi, and the founders of the Jerry Thomas Project, to facilitate companies and professionals meeting and inspiring each other in an international – but very much Italian – context with the aim of turning the spotlight on the activities of the spirits and mixology industry of Italy.
Building on the success of the first edition (with over 150 participating companies and almost 10,000 visitors in two days), and after a long wait lasting over two years, the artistic direction and all the staff of the Roma Bar Show are proud to be present again in support of the food and beverage industry, which has suffered more than most in this period of crisis and uncertainty.
This year’s show includes a busy programme of activities with conferences, masterclasses, talks and off-site events across the city dedicated to trade and consumers designed to involve visitors and the whole of Rome. Professionals from the sector and international guests will share their experience and knowledge on trends and news in the sector. Roma Bar Show 2022 will not only be an exhibition space, but also a stage where one can try new experiences first-hand through the history of the participating brands. There are several thematic areas that will enrich this new edition of the event, but not only that: during the two-day programme, the world final of Art of Italicus aperitivo challenge and the final of the Diageo World Class bar academy competition will be held, while numerous Fuori Salone (i.e. off-site) events and initiatives will be hosted in the evenings at various venues in the capital, from cocktail bars to hotels.
After the great success of the first edition, the area dedicated to mezcals and tequilas will extend beyond Mexico Village, while the new Coffee Village will offer a chance to discover the world of roasters and small artisan producers. Piazza Italia (Italian Square) makes Italian products par excellence its focus: from historic Italian liquor brands to new, independent producers. In fact, Italian craftsmanship will be at the centre of the Roma Bar Show, with products from offerings from small distilleries and medium-sized enterprises, spirits to beer, and passing through the ever-growing Italian whiskeys, which are no longer a novelty. Not least there will be a gastronomic component, with the usual food trucks dedicated to every taste to please any palate.
Authentic stars of the international beverage sector will spangle the Roma Bar Show 2022, with the festival hosting personalities such as Jeff Berry and Monica Berg, who will focus on the sustainability and seasonality of raw materials in the bar, with innovation in classic American cocktails brought by Jeffrey Morgenthaler, Robert Simonson, Claire Warner, Roberta Mariani and more. Anistatia Miller and Jared Brown will also be in attendance, and Marian Beke will treat visitors to his own creations that have made him a celebrity in the drinks world. Erik Lorincz will lecture at the academy under the motto of “less is more”. Moreover, Simone Caporale, Salvatore Calabrese, Giacomo Giannotti, Valentino Long and Antonio Parlapiano will deal with reinterpretations of the classics, and Daniele Gentili and Simone Onorati will talk about the use of the rotavapor.
The Roma Bar Show ins’t only about cocktails: the show will also focus on food pairing, with a meeting between bartender Marc Alvarez and legendary chef Albert Adrià. The conference will be held on the main stage of the Palazzo dei Congressi and will be introduced and moderated by two exceptional presenters: Stefano Nincevich and Patrick Pistolesi.
