Taste of London returns to Regent’s Park next week
From 15th–19th June, Taste of London will reunite food lovers with the best chefs, restaurateurs and artisan producers in the city. With several new additions to the epic gastronomic line-up, don’t miss out on the biggest birthday celebration of the summer – Taste turns 18.
The restaurants
Joining the fiesta this summer are many of London’s most loved restaurants, with dishes to match every craving. Embrace different cuisines from around the globe – discover Spanish flavours at Bibo by Michelin-starred Dani García which will be serving up traditional Andalusian tapas, whilst award-winning neighbourhood Italian restaurant Cin Cin will be plating up authentic Italian eats, Dalston’s Angelina are bringing their unique Japanese and Italian fusion dishes, and for those who prefer a meatier option head to Juici Jerk to taste the flavours of the Caribbean with their hyped jerk chicken. Newly launched Neyba are bringing collaborative globetrotting classics from celebrity chefs.
Continue the Taste exploration at Malaysian hot spot Roti King, while Heritage, London’s first alpine-inspired restaurant is serving cheesy bites, and bustling Spanish bodega, Brindisa will be offering impeccable tapas from carefully sourced ingredients. For a taste of the fine things, Chai Wu are bringing their elevated Chinese cuisine,while Mayfair restaurant Manthan from chef Rohit Ghai will be serving Indian comfort food.
The fire pit
Meat-lovers can discover the fiery smells and flavours of the famous Fire Pit sponsored by Food Networkand get up close with London’s fiercest chefs and their Taste-only exclusive dishes. West London rapper turned foodie Big Zuu is opening the fire pit on Wednesday, with Best New Restaurant 2020 Fallow showing their sustainable and creative cooking skill in the flames on Thursday. Leading live fire and BBQ expert Genevieve Taylor will be sharing her top tips on ‘how to pit’ on Friday. Chef and pastrami expert Jay Morjaria, Pig and Butcher’s head chef Sean Garrett, Ashley Abodeely from NoMad Hotel, Covent Garden and chef Ximena Gayosso Gonzales of Madera at Treehouse will all be demoing their take on the summer BBQ, whilst Taste newbies Drums & Flats, will be making their first festival appearance to introduce South London Soul Food.
The champagne
Celebrating the launch of the Cuvée Rosé personalised Butterfly Tin, Champagne Laurent-Perrier once again returns to Taste of London. Recognised as one of the foremost names in the industry and pioneers in champagne innovation, the iconic Champagne Laurent-Perrier Club House will once again serve as a bar to give consumers refreshing tastes of the range and to connect with likeminded champagne aficionados.
All the indulgent feasting will undoubtedly be thirsty work, so wind down on deck chairs in the Club House where guests can expect delicious sips of the ever-admired Cuvée Rosé to toast to the beginning of summer with loved ones.
The Laurent-Perrier Club House will be available to experience throughout this year’s Taste. This is Laurent-Perrier’s 18th year as official champagne sponsor of Taste of London. Laurent-Perrier’s limited edition Cuvée Rosé Butterfly Tin comes emblazoned with a message of your choice, of up to 15 characters and is available from November in Selfridges for £79.99 (75cl). Personalisation is available in store and online.
The booze
Dine, drink and dance this summer as the perfect alfresco day out is waiting for you. Head to Aspall Cyder House and get your hands on a crisp and refreshing glass of cider or fuel your day at the De’Longhi Coffee Bar with a quality range of coffees and Espresso Martinis, Remember to bring your summer spirit, and the Schweppes Bar will have the tonic ready with expertly crafted G&Ts or bolder drinks from brand mixologists, that will be sure to ignite your curiosity. New for 202c, The Juice Lab will partner up with The Kitchen Theory to create an experiential juice bar hosted by Kitchen Theory’s creative director chef Jozef Youssef. Take part in Youssef’s smoothie masterclasses using fruits and vegetables from Odd Box and test your tastebuds. Challenge to taste the difference and guess the ingredients.
Festival go-ers will have the opportunity to taste produce from the UK’s best food and drink producers with over 150 stalls filled with delicious samples. Ian Burrell, global ambassador for The Equiano Rum Co and Channel 4’s ‘Sunday Brunch’ Rum and Cocktail will be on site for a chance to hone your cocktail making skills. Beefsteak Club Wines are raising the steaks at Taste of London this summer, hosting special wine tastings in their double decker container bar for the perfect al fresco tipple.
The daily special
Struggling to get a reservation at Time Out’s newly announced Best Restaurant Chishuru? Taste and Just Eat, the UK’s leading food delivery app, are delivering joy this summer at the Just Eat Daily Special, back for another year, promising two new and different restaurants each day of the festival. Thanks to a partnership with Be Inclusive Hospitality, which is on a mission to accelerate racial equality in the Hospitality sector, the Just Eat Daily Special line-up also includes a host of black-owned restaurants. Experience a range of culinary delights from chef Adejoké “Joke” Bakaré’s award winning modern West African restaurant – Chishuru, chef and restaurateur Delroy Dixon will be serving flavour packed jerk chicken from East London’s Rhythm Kitchen, Wood and Water will be serving British – Caribbean fusion flavour combinations and you can discover pan-African cuisine and culture at Akwasi Brenya-Mensa’s Tatale, while Wood and Water will be serving British-Caribbean fusion flavour combinations. Just Eat will also be providing an unforgettable spot to enjoy these incredible culinary creations. The vibrant House of Joy space is the ultimate playground for foodies and comes complete with swing seat, a see-saw and even a hammock to put your feet up.
The cook school
The Diners Club Cook School will provide a stage for the capital’s most sought after chefs with a focus on “Dine for Change” targeting food waste and sustainability. Jazz up your culinary skills and take part in live discussions with British-Iranian chef and food writer Sabrina Ghayour and Chantelle Nicholson, head chef of newly opened Mayfair restaurant Apricity, the first-ever chef to receive the new Michelin Green Star.
New to the Summer festival, House of Taste is set to provide the ultimate summer house party in Regent’s Park. Guests are invited to improve their culinary skills at the Skillery in the ‘kitchen’, followed by a competitive match of crazy golf at Taste Tee in the ‘garden’ and to finish, head to the Bar in the ‘Lounge’ for added fun and games with Taste’s famous piano man playing the summertime classics to sing along to.
Insects, sauces and more
Dare to taste the difference at Saved, who will be offering food samples made with hidden insect protein. If you prefer protein straight from source, try The Jolly Hog who will show how the classic pigs in blankets aren’t just for Christmas. Revellers can pop by the Belazu Ingredient Company stall and learn from the very best. Expect cookery demonstrations and masterclasses from respected chefs and influencers and be in with a chance to win prizes throughout the weekend. Guests can try a delicious range of condiments from craft sauce producer The Sauce Shop who will also be giving samples from their delicious collab with Taste favourite James Cochran, while Taste France is returning for the second year bringing French art de vivre to the festival. Nestled in a glasshouse, the French Epiciere and Wine bar is providing guests five days of tasting and discovering. From wine masterclasses and cooking demonstrations to an outdoor wine bar partnered with a DJ for those authentic Parisian vibes.
