Guns N’ Roses at BST Hyde Park
An evening of rock music uniting generations, last night Hyde Park was packed with hardcore Guns N’ Roses fans donning vintage 80s t-shirts, while attendees paired up in Axl Rose and Slash costumes, a nod to old times. Adults and children alike all witnessed legends. Their music brought everyone together and a good time was had by all.
The three-hour epic set was the ultimate rock fest: from the singing to the guitar solos, all was absolutely brilliant. Not many bands can still put on a show like this with no breaks. Guns N’ Roses have proved to us that hard work, dedication, true passion for music, sweat and tears always pays off in the end. Rose running around like a kid for the entire gig definitely proved that no matter the decades in the business, he’s just a kid and he wants to have “a bloody good time”.
“You’re gonna die,” he screamed during Welcome to the Jungle as the crowd cheered, throwing hands in the air. This is Guns N’ Roses, we’re in the jungle baby.
Slash was unquestionably the highlight of the whole night: his guitar solo opening Sweet Child O’ Mine must have been one of the best transitions this writer has ever heard live. You know it’s going to be absolutely epic when you hear the first few notes – the definition of a timeless classic.
A true honour having the chance to witness this masterpiece performed live by the band, it was definitely one of those moments where you know you’re in something unique, something that will stay with you forever.
The weather was not necessarily giving the so-called “summertime”, but despite the casual drizzle, Hyde Park is always good fun. There’s something special about enjoying live music in a park, especially at an event this massive. Rose performing November Rain at the piano while the audience got blessed by a few drops of actual rain – it just made perfect sense.
At the end of this memorable show, we all got a one-way ticket to Paradise City and sure as hell that was a fun ride: the grass was green and the girls were pretty.
