“It’s hard not to be drawn to TV series because there are just more opportunities”: Constance Zimmer, Jaden Michael, Abby Corrigan and Adrian Greensmith on Harlan Coben’s Shelter

Shelter is the first novel of the Mickey Bolitar YA suspense series by award-winning author Harlan Coben, and serves as the basis for Prime Video’s new mystery show that will thrill audiences of any age.

After his father’s shocking death, Mickey’s mother seeks inpatient treatment for her depression and Mickey (Jaden Michael) has to move in with his estranged aunt Shira (Constance Zimmer). Having barely arrived in New Jersey, Mickey comes across an eerie old house and its strange inhabitant: an old woman the townfolk refer to as “Bat Lady”. Portentously, she tells him that his father is still alive and Mickey becomes convinced she has something to do with the disappearance of a young girl in the area.

The Upcoming spoke to Zimmer about her predisposition for television, Coben’s hands-on involvement with the show and working side-by-side with young actors.

Mickey Bolitar is aided in his investigation by fellow students Ema (Abby Corrigan) and Spoon (played by Adrian Greensmith). The trio shared their own points of contact with folklore with us and how they managed to achieve their palpable chemistry.

Harlan Coben’s Shelter is released on Prime Video on 18th August 2023.
