Loki season two: The TVA Experience
The TVA Experience is a fan event hosted at OXO2 London that celebrates and prepares for Loki season two. It’s a fun little adventure guided by dressed-up actors strictly adhering to their TVA code of conduct. Anyone planning to join must be prepared to study the latest events within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There’ll be random questionnaires that will test the audience’s knowledge of all things time travel within the franchise, and some choices they make can affect how the actors react and interact with them.
It starts with a brief introduction to what will go down in the next 45 minutes. Supposedly, it’s a test of whether or not one is fit to join the TVA – Time Variance Authority, an organisation heralding different timelines and disturbances in the multiverse. There’s a very no-nonsense tour guide and his monotone voice, and an officer following him around, carrying a time stick to ensure everyone is well-behaved. All the actors are available to take pictures with around the various sets. There are multiple backdrops to choose from – the Automat, Repairs and the different signs and logos of the TVA.
Moving on, the true test begins in a quarantine room that hosts a “variant” – someone who has diverged from their main timeline. He relays information that may or may not be essential to the TVA. The variant will coerce viewers into understanding his crime against time with a well-prepared speech on the end justifies the means. From there, everyone moves into a new room in which their loyalty to the TVA is tested. How people choose to answer the questions of the agent will determine their fate within the TVA. However, it doesn’t matter whether one passes or fails in the end – everyone still gets to taste a delicious slice of key lime pie!
For 45 minutes, one is thoroughly entertained by the actors – all charismatic and each with a unique personality. The sets are all so immersive and very easy to navigate through, simply moving door to door, one end of the room to the other. However, the music surrounding each space is a little loud and can make it hard to talk with the actors or even hear any of their directions. And even though everyone is very willing to take pictures – even encouraging it – there’s very little time to do so, with the guides ushering everyone quickly to the next space after doling out instructions.
Overall, The TVA Experience is fun. But because of its very limited runtime, it’s best enjoyed being present in the moment with the actors, the sets, and the people within the group. Fortunately, there will be a photo set-up at the end where everyone gets an instant picture taken at the Loki season two poster. That might just be all the physical keepsake one needs in the end.
