Miles Kane at Electric Ballroom

Miles Kane saved Camden from a rainy London evening Saturday at the famed Electric Ballroom as part of his One Man Band tour.

The tour takes its name from Kane’s fifth solo album, which was released last year, and delivers another shade on the multifaceted spectrum of sound that makes Miles Kane, Miles Kane.

The musician has been a figurehead within the indie rock scene for years, yet he’s seemingly still experimenting. Tracks such as Baggio from the latest album are vastly different to songs from his earlier releases, like Loaded from Kane’s solo debut, which are more comparable with music made by former bands such as The Rascals and The Last Shadow Puppets.

As Kane opened with Troubled Son from One Man Band, the Camden crowd went absolutely wild – impressive considering it was his second night at the venue. Other songs from the recent release, such as The Wonder, Baggio and the title track, were huge hits, though songs from Kane’s 2011 album were the true show-stoppers of the night. Of those, tunes such as Rearrange and Inhaler were extremely well received, but the most popular were Loaded and the title track Colour of The Trap.

The crowd were perhaps hoping for some renditions of The Last Shadow Puppets, the band in which Kane co-fronted with famed Arctic Monkeys’ frontman Alex Turner, but sadly none from their repertoire were played.

During the second to last song, Come Closer, Miles urged the fans to “lose their minds”, and they sure listened. Dancing, shouting and yelling ensued in the Electric Ballroom, leading fans to even open a circle pit dead centre of the crowd. This ultimately sealed the deal on a wonderful gig from Mr Miles Kane.

The idea of another Last Shadow Puppets album no doubt still lingers on every fan’s mind – will they ever witness the grand return of Alex Turner and Miles Kane? – but regardless of another record with his former bandmate, Kane put on an electrifying show Saturday night, ending the UK leg of his tour on a high. Miles Kane is set to continue his One Man Band tour in Europe over the coming weeks, and if those shows are anything like this one, fans are going to love them.
