Speak No Evil trailer and poster promise a spine-chilling thriller starring James McAvoy
The upcoming psychological thriller Speak No Evil promises an intense ride into suspense later this year. Directed by James Watkins and featuring a stellar cast including James McAvoy, Mackenzie Davis and Scoot McNairy, the film unveils a seemingly idyllic weekend getaway that spirals into a terrifying nightmare for an American family.
Speak No Evil follows the Dalton family, portrayed by Davis and McNairy, along with their daughter Agnes, played by Alix West Lefler, as they accept an invitation from a charming British family they met on vacation. What starts as a dream holiday at the British family’s country estate, owned by the charismatic Paddy (McAvoy) and his wife Ciara (Aisling Franciosi), rapidly descends into a chilling psychological ordeal.
This latest offering from Blumhouse, the powerhouse behind hits like The Black Phone, Get Out and The Invisible Man, stars BAFTA award-winner McAvoy in what is described as a “riveting performance” as the alpha-male estate owner whose warmth hides dark secrets. The film is based on the screenplay of the 2022 Danish horror sensation Gæsterne, by Christian Tafdrup and Mads Tafdrup, which garnered 11 Danish Film Awards nominations.
Written and directed by Watkins, known for Eden Lake and the gothic ghost story The Woman in Black, Speak No Evil is produced by Jason Blum for Blumhouse and Paul Ritchie, with Beatriz Sequeira, Jacob Jarek and Christian Tafdrup serving as executive producers.
The official trailer offers a glimpse into the disturbing unravelling that awaits the Daltons, setting the stage for a film that is as much a commentary on modern hospitality as it is a suspenseful thriller, set to unsettle viewers with its blend of charm and terror.
