Nest Farmhouse to bring farm-to-plate dining and quaint accommodations to North Norfolk

In the picturesque setting of Docking, North Norfolk, a new dining and accommodation experience is set to launch on 5^th June 2024: Nest Farmhouse, an extension of the acclaimed Michelin-starred Restaurant St Barts and Nest in London, emboding farm-to-plate ethos. Located on a sprawling 1,000-acre working farm, this establishment aims to offer guests a deeply rooted local culinary experience while minimising its carbon footprint.

The venture is the brainchild of co-founders Luke Wasserman, Toby Neill, and Johnnie Crowe, who share a collective passion for North Norfolk. Their journey began with a successful pop-up in Burnham Overy Staithe in 2022 and 2023, which led to the conception of Nest Farmhouse. The restaurant, which will operate from Wednesday to Sunday for lunch and dinner, showcases a seasonally changing à la carte menu, daily specials, a dedicated children’s menu, and a traditional Sunday roast. Headed by Norfolk native Grant Cotton, the kitchen’s offerings pay homage to the region’s produce, comprising dishes like Scallops with Parsley and Garlic and Pork and Wild Mushroom Terrine, alongside seasonal specials spotlighting local game and fish.

Nest Farmhouse doesn’t just stop at its gourmet offerings. Housed in a former cattle shed, the venue has been transformed into a chic retreat, boasting interiors that blend seamlessly with the serene coastal landscape. The dining space, capable of accommodating 40 guests, features a central bar and a cozy area complete with a wood burner for relaxed dining. Emphasizing local craftsmanship, the furniture, crockery, and glassware have been carefully curated from independent designers and artists within the area.

For those wanting to maximise the long summer nights, there is a reeded pond complete with outdoor seating a short walk from the front of the restaurant, whereas surrounding the building the veranda provides a natural shelter from changing weather. 

For those wishing to extend their visit, Nest Farmhouse offers six comfortable rooms named after local flora, such as Pine and Nettle, equipped with king-size beds and luxury Norfolk-made toiletries. The accommodation aspect provides a tranquil escape, complete with breakfast served to the room and breathtaking views of the iconic open Norfolk skies.
