Discovering beauty in the mundane
Our world is filled with digital development, AI-generated entertainment and so many other things that can distract and thrill us. As a society, there is more stress and strain on us than ever before, and so we continually are finding new ways to relieve it.
We don’t even have to leave home to be engaged and have fun. Apart from the hundreds of streaming services that offer all genres of film and music, we also have social media and online gaming that we can indulge in. In these virtual worlds, players can escape the monotony of real life while experiencing the exhilaration of conquering new challenges and the fulfilment of levelling up.
There are a variety of ways to enjoy games online, depending on your preference. Some people like to play games at online casinos, where you could also potentially win rewards and cash prizes. This adds an extra layer of entertainment and thrill to online gaming. What if, however, there was a way to make this online gaming experience even better?
Free gaming opportunities are a tempting feature offered at some online platforms that allows you to try out new games without putting any money on the line. They make the gaming sessions more exciting. It’s possible to experiment with different techniques, play different games, and even win rewards without breaking the bank when you use free bets.
As you can see, there are options aplenty when it comes to finding ways to alleviate your boredom or relieve your stress, and that isn’t a bad thing. The issue arises when the televisions are turned off, the cars are parked and the internet is unstable. Are we able to look within, and around us, and find joy in the stillness and present moment?
It may take some work, but we can find all that and more by becoming aware of how to live creatively and mindfully, finding beauty in our every day.
Perception is everything
Living creatively means shifting how we view things. We need to stop and take in the smaller details of life that may go unnoticed but, looking back, can be an opportunity to feel great joy. Remember when you were a child, discovering everything for the first time? How precious was every moment, and how exciting it was to pick a flower or roll in the mud (much to your mother’s chagrin).
It costs nothing but time to sit in Hyde Park and observe people passing by, or watch how the shadows and light play on the leaves of the trees. When we observe the beauty found in the present moment, we start fostering a mindset that is filled with creative inspiration. Start small, however, so that nothing is forced and overwhelming.
Imperfection is perfect
Media, our communities, and even our families and friends have taught us that only if something is perfect can it be a thing of beauty. Creativity is connected to nature and everyone and everything around us. Imagine how boring it would be if we were all the standard idea of perfection.
Living creatively means learning to embrace all the seeming flaws and quirks that exist in ‘imperfect’ things – whether it’s a physical object or even your own life. Think about the Japanese aesthetic of “wabi-sabi,” which emphasises the value of imperfection, age, and transience. Embedded in our environments, the tales told by broken vases and worn furniture give them personality and depth.
Routine can be beautiful
Some people thrive with routine and structure and, to be fair, we all need it or else our lives will descend into chaos. But for those who are more creatively inclined, routine can seem boring and monotonous. So how can we change that and live in a space that encourages us to be mindful and content?
Well, there is beauty in the familiar, too. Do not take for granted that which someone else can only wish to have. Whether it’s being able to drive a car instead of walking to work or owning a space that is all yours instead of having to constantly be uprooted due to financial circumstances, there is art all around you. It’s in the flowers you bought to brighten up your living room, the new recipe for dinner your family truly appreciates, or even the joyful rhythm of your daily walk with your dogs. Peace and joy can be found in all of these seemingly boring, everyday chores.
Mindful living
By now, you have probably heard or read how mindfulness is key to true creativity and happiness. It can be found in every religious and new age text, in all languages and cultures. There’s a reason for that.
When you are fully present and engaged in whatever you are doing, you are able to truly find the richness in your environment, the true connection with another being or the real intuition you have always possessed. It’s the morning sun on your face or the smell of your coffee as you brew it. This not only cultivates a mind that looks for beauty in simplicity but also a feeling of deep gratitude for every little thing.
Explore to create
As mentioned, we can start with the little instances in our daily lives. We can breathe and explore using all our senses. Through this continuous practice, you will soon find yourself living creatively and seeing that art really is everywhere you look.
