West End to debut Why Am I So Single? by creators of SIX at Garrick Theatre
London’s Garrick Theatre is primed to host the premiere of Why Am I So Single? from Tuesday 27th August 2024. This new musical, penned by the multi-award-winning team behind SIX, Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss, promises a blend of comedy, love and friendship, all set against the backdrop of modern dating.
The narrative follows two best friends navigating the complexities of love in the age of dating apps like Tinder, Bumble and Grindr, with a quirky twist involving their quest for a great topic for their next musical. Jo Foster and Leesa Tulley lead the cast, bringing to life the trials and tribulations of finding love and the strength of friendship.
Marlow and Moss expressed their hopes for the show, stating, “This is ultimately a musical about two friends, their desire for love and how they deal with loneliness. We hope people come away feeling super uplifted. And we hope they text someone the second they leave the theatre saying ‘omigosh just fyi i love you soooo much!!!!’”
The production boasts a talented creative team, including choreography by Ellen Kane and music by Marlow & Moss, who have been described by British Vogue as the “future of musical theatre”. With a dynamic ensemble yet to be announced and a storyline that explores the hilarious realities of being single, the musical is a celebration of friendship and love.
Kenny Wax, George Stiles and Ameena Hamid produce the show, with a team that has been instrumental in bringing successful shows to the West End and beyond. The production will run at the Garrick Theatre until Thursday 13th February 2025, with tickets starting from £20.
