NYFW – Jenny Packham S/S 2013 collection
Jenny Packham burst on the New York Fashion Week scene in splendid glory. If Kate Middleton, Angelina Jolie, Kate Hudson and Blake Lively are fans of your designs, you know you’ve arrived. Packed to the brim with fashion bloggers and celebs alike (Minka Kelly, and the fashionista himself, stylist Brad Goreski) all came to see what sparkly designs Packham would come up with for the Spring/Summer 2013 season.
She did not disappoint. Against a stark white backdrop, the disco ball dropped and stunning, sparkly designs began sashaying down the runway. The models’ make-up was kept fresh with sultry eyed. Their hair twisted back into an ultra feminine side pony-tail. The collection was inspired by “high rollers, Hollywood actors and free spending gamblers in Las Vegas during the 1960s”.
Striking monochrome made a statement in geometric prints, ethereal silk chiffons in pale waterfall blues, soft eucalyptus greens and delicate lilacs cinched at the waist, figure-hugging floor-length gowns, dripping in Swarovski crystals. We loved the mix of silver crystalised dresses, juxtaposed with bold oranges and mimosa yellow gowns, and cocktail dresses. The collection was fit for a Hollywood starlet. Now if I could just get on with that acting career…
