Al-Qaeda claims they defeated America in 9/11 anniversary video
Al-Qaeda’s leader has claimed that US forces face “utter defeat” by his warriors on various battlefronts and that Americans are unsafe “wherever they go in the world” in a 42-minute video broadcast.
Al-Qaeda released the September 11 anniversary video declaring the United States is at war with Islam and that the US government is on a mission to wipe out Muslims. Al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri has also confirmed the death of the group’s second-in-command Abu Yahya al-Libi in a drone strike last June in Yemen.
Egyptian Ayman al-Zawahiri, a former eye surgeon, took over as emir of the group after Osama bin Laden was killed by US Navy Seals in May last year.
The al-Qaeda video included remarks by the American spokesperson of the group, Adam Gadahn, who said: “Today, American Muslims are being killed in Yemen, tomorrow they’re going to be killed (by the US government) in New York and Los Angeles. Get ready for the holocaust,” he said. “America is crystal clear about its opposition to Islam as a political system, Islam as a ruling system […] and the essence of Islam.” He then asked: “So, how can America say that it is not at war with Islam?“
Adam Gadahn, also known as Azzam the American, was born in 1978. He is a native of southern California and has appeared in several videotapes for al-Qaeda since 2004.
