LFW – Una Burke S/S 2013 collection
The quaint rooms of the West Wing at Somerset House did not justify the magnificence of Una Burke’s Twisted Candy spring/summer 2013 collection. Una, who is renowned for her captivating fashion statements, took inspiration for her new pieces from “a quest for balance”. Using much more of a bolder colour palette for her new collection, there was a level field between feminine and masculine tones, combined together with a host of different angles in order to balance her ideas.
Una’s signature use of leather is key within all of the body pieces in this collection, as well as an emphasis upon lines on the upper torso. The effect that the pieces have when worn on the body, undoubtedly give an added statement to any outfit.
Collaboration with illustrator Spiros Halaris has allowed Una to create large silk twill scarves for the collection in two lavish prints. The graphical statement of these accessories allowed Una’s leather pieces to be complemented and adds a completely new aspect to her creative design.
As well as her unique body accessories, next season sees the launch of day bags. Bright, vibrant colours have been used for a more refreshing approach to her collection and all will feature the newly designed Monograph logo as part of a two-part launch to her label.
