LFW – Mercedes-Benz Kiev Fashion Days A/W 2013 show
A rather chilly Sunday afternoon at the Vauxhall Fashion Scout was welcomed with a warm reception as Mercedes-Benz hosted the Kiev Fashion Days event. Designed as a platform for Ukraine designers, the event showcased the work of Anna October, Iuliia Paskal, Yasya Minochkina and Anna Kolomoets. Despite the delayed start to the show, what was to come was worth the wait.
Anna Kolomoets, the youngest designer of the showcase was first to step up and show her impressive talents. After becoming a part of the fashion industry at 14, Anna has moved from being a model to designing her own collections. Playing with a whole array of colours and textures, Anna is definitely going to be one to watch. Our favourite piece of the collection had to be the adorable white fur love heart print skirt with matching collar.
Yasya Minochkina was next on the bill. She studied in London at Central St. Martins, and her design creativity is a true reflection of where she studied. Peplums prevailed her collection with a host of burgendy and blue colouring velvet coats and dresses.
Iuliia Paskal founded her brand in 2010 and has used her experience as an architect to bring a new and interesting twist to the fashion world. Inspiration for AW13 came from a whole array of wonderful things, such as classic music to personal reflections of life. Bold metallic colours were used alongside a more basic monochrome palette in order to create perfect balance between retro and futuristic.
Closing the show was conceptual womenswear designer Anna October who displayed a beautiful array of monochrome cut out designs. Inspired by culture, colour and emotion, Anna’s work had a certain happiness about it. Metallic’s again brought her pieces to life and allowed precise tailoring to be fully admired.
