LFW – Marios Schwab A/W 2013 collection
London-based designer Marios Schwab showcased his stunning collection for A/W 2013 on Sunday at Somerset House. As opulence and velvet were the key themes in this show, there wasn’t a single dull moment.
Stunning looks in deep, rich colours to enhance the autumn/ winter feel were sent down the runway, whilst the models faces were kept simple and clean. The crimped hair added a slight nostalgia for the trend, perhaps indicating what could be an emerging fashion.
Schwab stuck to dresses, ranging from mini, midi and maxi in length, With the latest obsession being capes, Schwab brought in the trend in long and linear lengths, with slit jacket sleeves (also seen at Victoria Beckham) to mimic a cape. Nude tulle gowns, shattered mosaic scattered beneath skirts, fitted cocktail frocks over splaying skirts and velvet maroon slit-front skirts were displayed, all seeking to be worn to a worthy occasion.
As his inspiration, Schwab claimed he looked to calligrams. Turning poetic substances into gorgeous gowns, all speaking the beautiful language of fashion. His poetry sung out for lace, mirrored embellishments and velvet, which all amounted to a Tudor feel. All of his looks were teamed with gladiator-esque sandal boots, to add a hint of abundance. The Tudor feel was also carried through with the fluted sleeves on short tunic dresses.
Overall, the stunning show screamed out red carpet glamour, with a sensual, seductive ambience of sheer luxury. There truly are no words to describe just how exquisite the collection was, but we hope Schwab continues to seek inspiration from poetry in the future.
