LFW – Christopher Kane A/W 2013 collection
Scottish fashion designer Christopher Kane has returned to fashion week with another fantastic women’s wear collection.
Kane celebrates his success this year by revisiting his old collections and incorporating his best designs into his new work. Despite Kane’s collections being so varied each season, this collaboration of looks works well, as although the looks were very different from each other they were still recognisably his own.
He uses his signature floral prints, kilts and velvet, but he also introduced other patterns and fabrics such as feathers, fur, camouflage and lots of embellishment.=
A theme was evident as the first few looks were seen. Miniature belts were used as collars and cuffs giving an urban feel to the looks; this immediately captured the audience’s attention.
Other looks consisted of rich velvet dresses in dark colours such as navy and burgundy, and lots of feathered hemlines.
Soon into the show, the designs became sheer and more revealing, but towards the end layering was introduced. At the end of the show, Kane showed firework-like dresses with lots of embellishment. These dresses were the perfect finale to a breath-taking show and an amazing year for Christopher Kane.
World-famous Vogue editor Anna Wintour turned up to support the previous British Fashion Award winner. Other influential fashion icons such as Susie Bubble and Donatella Versace sat in the front row.
This show was Kane’s biggest show yet, with 55 models and over 800 guests. It appears that things can only be going up for Christopher Kane.
