LFW – Edeline Lee A/W 2013 collection
In a slightly different location to Somerset House, Tuesday morning saw Edeline Lee present her AW13 collection in true elegance. Set in the magnificent Middle Temple Hall on Embankment, guests were given ten-minute interval slots in which they were invited into an old-fashioned, archaic room. Luxurious surroundings of red velvet, draped curtains and gold-framed paintings set models into a scene of medieval times.
Acting in role, models were recreating a scene from a historical period, using props such as red apples, a grand piano and rubber snakes. With sound of a bell, models fell into line with a lead model at the front acting as mistress. Models then took turns to courtesy to the mistress before filling out into different areas of the room. Guests were further instructed by the mistress to inspect the collection, adding to the formal, dramatic atmosphere.
Leading with such intrigue and interest, the garments themselves had an older colour palette. Purples and greens were mixed with creams and golds for a very classic feel. Structures were flattering and feminine, with dresses floating at knee height and some having interesting collar shapes. Knee-high boots were worn with matching trousers and oversized coats for a distinct shape.
